About Us
LasJalapeñas-CanelayLimón-93

Hello! We are María and Cristina, two sisters from the Canary Islands.

Our story begins in 2014 when we lived in Madrid. There, we learned to make artisan soaps at La Tabacalera. So we began to make soap for domestic and family use.

It was after two trips we made to Mexico (2015) and India (2017) that we became aware of the problem related to plastic.

It was then that we realized that thanks to the soaps that we already prepared at home we had managed to reduce our waste and we wanted to continue reducing it, so we began to investigate, learn and develop other products; such as toothpaste, shampoo, deodorant, cream, etc…

Over time, apart from reducing waste, we saw in ourselves the extensive benefits of natural products. Our skin, scalp, enamel felt better and feels better.

All this prompted us to publicize what we were doing and encourage more people to use natural products without plastic. In 2017 “Japy Jabones” was born for a few months later to expand the project to “Las JalaPeñas”.

Since then, thanks to “las JalaPeñas” we have moved in different areas (educational: environmental awareness talks and theoretical-practical workshops; cultural events; festivals, etc.).

Today, we make a wide range of natural products following the “plastic-free” line, our future goal is to offer all our products in a solid format, preserving the artisanal production and having a farm where we can organically grow the flowers and plants that we use that we currently already do but our space is reduced.

We can summarize our project as: being zero waste, free of plastics, 100% natural hygiene products, recovering traditional manufacturing techniques and using local ingredients.
